Clark Schreibeis wins Judges Choice Best of Show at the 2007 World Fish Carving Championships

Clark Schreibeis - - Clark Schreibeis Wildlife Art

Created and carved entirely from wood, the winning woodcarving/sculpture titled, "Danger at the Cleaning Station" is a depiction of several unique and interesting fish of Hawaii`s coral reef with a pair of small yet vibrantly beautiful Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse being the primary players.

Other fish in the scene vying for the Cleaner`s attention are four Pyramid Butterflyfish and one Moorish Idol which all have beautiful, graceful lines and striking colors.

The "Danger" that lurks below at the base of this tranquil scene is nestled and perfectly hidden among the brilliant colors of the sponges and algae that live on the coral. This dangerous and voracious carnivore is none other than the Titan Scorpionfish, which is a master of camouflage and is almost impossible to visually detect in its habitat.

Schreibeis was born in Wyoming and raised in Montana. His passion for wildlife of all types is evident in his carvings with the species of the Rocky Mountain west (and Montana`s trout in particular) being his primary focus. He has had a life-long love affair with rivers and the myriad of species that make their home in and around their life-giving waters.
