"Life is good when I`m piloting my canoe down a river and camping on its gravel bars." He explains. "While floating, camping and fishing on the river, I delight in being an active partaker and participant and not just an intrusive foreigner. God created all this beauty for us to enjoy and I take great pleasure in drawing people`s attention to that beauty with my art."

Carving the beautiful fish of Hawaii`s great coral reefs is a slight departure for him but it is not the first time he has ventured into this realm with success. In 1997, a piece commissioned by Art Westwood, of Billings, won Best of Show at the World Championships. Westwood commissioned Schreibeis and produced another big win this year with "Danger at the Cleaning Station".

Clark and his wife Erika live outside of Billings, Montana and are blessed with three sons and a daughter, two of whom are still at home. He owns and operates the Clark Schreibeis Wildlife Art Studio and currently divides his time between sculpting in wood and bronze, judging competitions, teaching carving classes in his studio and around the country and, of course, seeking out wild places whenever he can.
