Clark's first attempt at wood carving was a carved brown trout that won Best of Show at a taxidermy competition. Since that original sculpture, Clark went on to win numerous competitions and awards, including "Best in World" honors at the World Fish Carving Championships in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2007 and 2013. These wins also gave him the distinction of being the only fish carver to ever win three consecutive world championships ('95, '97, '99) and Judges Best of Show five times. These five Best of Show wins were the only 5 years that he entered the World Competition. His other awards include, but are not limited to:
